Dr. Md. Kamran ul Baset serves as Associate Professor and Dean of the Department of Public Health and Pharmacy at Independent University, Bangladesh. He is a seasoned public health practitioner with over eighteen years of experience leading community-based programmes and research initiatives.

Dr. Baset has specialized expertise in road safety, community engagement, policy advocacy for sustainable development, injury surveillance system design, and health care–seeking behavior. He also has extensive teaching experience at the postgraduate level in Global Health and Research Methodology.

Previously, he served as Associate Director at the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research Bangladesh (CIPRB). His professional career includes roles with Dhaka Shishu Hospital, the Institute of Child Health and Shishu Hospital, University of the West of England, and BRAC, where he served as Head of the Road Safety Programme.

Dr. Baset earned his Ph.D. from the University of the West of England, United Kingdom, with a research focus on “Road Traffic Injury Prevention in Children in Rural Bangladesh.” He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Umeå University and an MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College under University of Dhaka.
