SUMMARY:Seminars\, Roundtables\, and Training Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Objective \nTo influence policy\, raise awareness\, and build capacity among stakeholders on road safety and traffic management issues. \nSituation Analysis \nThere is a general lack of strategic discussion and coordinated action on road safety among policymakers\, civil society organizations\, and transport stakeholders. Public awareness of critical safety issues\, such as traffic congestion and transport management\, remains low\, resulting in recurring road safety challenges. \nOutcomes \nRegular seminars\, roundtables\, and workshops have been organized\, engaging policymakers\, experts\, transport stakeholders\, and the media. These events have facilitated dialogue on strategic issues and contributed to shaping public opinion and policy priorities.

SUMMARY:Motivational Training for Transport Drivers and Workers
DESCRIPTION:Objective \nTo promote responsible driving behavior and reduce road crashes through motivation-based awareness training. \nSituation Analysis \nMany drivers lack formal education and training on road safety and responsible conduct. Reckless driving remains one of the leading causes of road crashes in Bangladesh\, largely due to inadequate motivation and limited awareness of its consequences. \nOutcomes\nA total of 697 drivers have received motivational training\, resulting in increased awareness of safe driving practices. The Foundation maintains regular communication with these drivers to reinforce and sustain positive behavioral changes.

SUMMARY:Award Program for Responsible Transport Owners and Skilled Drivers
DESCRIPTION:Objective \nTo recognize and reward safe and responsible practices among transport owners and drivers\, thereby promoting professionalism and ethical standards within the transport sector. \nSituation Analysis \nDespite the challenges facing the transport sector\, many transport owners and drivers operate responsibly. However\, their contributions often go unrecognized. Formal recognition can serve as a powerful incentive for others to adopt similar practices. \nOutcomes \nSince 2018\, 400 skilled drivers have received the ‘Skilled Vehicle Driver Award’ in four phases. Awardees have reported a heightened sense of responsibility and social recognition\, which is also influencing others positively. \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Road Safety Campaigns in Educational Institutions
DESCRIPTION:Objective \nTo raise awareness among students\, teachers\, and parents about road safety practices in order to reduce fatalities and injuries involving students. \nSituation Analysis \nStudent fatalities resulting from road crashes are increasing\, often due to reckless driving\, inadequate pedestrian infrastructure\, and low levels of road safety awareness. Young students\, particularly those who riding motorcycles or crossing roads unsafely\, are especially vulnerable. \nOutcomes \nRoad safety campaigns have been conducted in 31 schools and 6 colleges\, significantly increasing awareness among students and teachers regarding safe road-use behavior.

SUMMARY:Women’s Safety Program in Public Transport
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nTo ensure safe and respectful public transportation for women and to provide legal and social support to victims of harassment. \nSituation Analysis \nPublic transport in Bangladesh is often unsafe for women\, who frequently face verbal and physical harassment. In severe cases\, incidents of rape and murder involving transport workers have occurred. Accountability mechanisms and redress systems remain inadequate. \nOutcomes\nA complaint center has been established\, and law enforcement agencies are notified upon receiving complaints. Policy seminars and roundtable discussions have been organized to address the issue at the institutional level. Awareness among transport workers regarding women’s safety has also improved.

SUMMARY:Healthcare Program for Transport Workers
DESCRIPTION:Objective \nTo improve the physical and mental health of transport workers through mobile clinics and the provision of basic healthcare services at transport terminals. \nSituation Analysis \nLimited access to healthcare services for drivers and transport workers contributes to untreated physical and mental health conditions. These health issues can adversely affect driving performance and increase road safety risks. \nOutcomes \nHealth check-ups have been provided to 412 drivers\, and necessary medications have been distributed. The program has helped improve the health status of transport workers and increased awareness of personal health and well-being.

SUMMARY:Road Safety Research Program
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nTo generate evidence-based knowledge and data to support road safety strategies\, policy development\, and advocacy initiatives. \nSituation Analysis \nThere is a significant shortage of reliable road safety data and analysis in Bangladesh. Without systematic research\, it is difficult to design effective interventions or advocate convincingly for policy action. \nOutcomes\nThe Foundation has conducted important research on issues such as: \n\nAnnual economic losses resulting from traffic congestion\nAverage vehicle speeds in the capital city\nThe proportion of beggars whose disabilities were caused by road accidents\nIdentification of accident-prone locations across the country\n\nThe Foundation has also published the report “Road Crash Scenario in Bangladesh: The Way Forward\,” which has contributed to shaping national-level road safety initiatives. \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Data Collection and Publication of Road Crash Report
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nTo inform the public and relevant authorities about the trends\, causes\, and consequences of road crashes through regular\, data-driven reporting. \nSituation Analysis \nThere are limited transparency and reporting on road crash data\, which hampers public awareness and policy accountability. Media attention is inconsistent and often lacks analytical depth. \nOutcomes\nThe Foundation has been regularly publishing analytical reports on road crashes\, which have been widely covered by national media outlets. These reports have increased public awareness and engagement and have helped bring road safety issues to the forefront of the national agenda. \n
